Is Your Day Job Slowing Your Website Growth?
Okay, so it has been a couple months since I’ve made an entry. I’m a teacher, so my day job is now in full blast and totally time consuming. To all those who are wondering, yes I’m still trying to make my way to an extra $1000 per month. The goal is the same, but the amount of time I can dedicate to it is limited.
Since August, there has been virtually zero progress in my website growth or development. I’ve added a couple things, but it is nothing like how things were over the summer. During my commutes to work, I’ve had some time to rethink how I can continue developing my sites with limited time (and energy).
Since I won’t be able to write articles in volume, each one needs to be effective traffic drivers. They also can’t be short lived topics; they need to be ageless. Thus, I’ve decided that I’m going to be closely following a few popular message boards, tracking the most common topics and turn those topics into articles. I’m going to aim for an article a week. So, I’ll test the quality over quantity approach an see what happens.
Also, since I’ve really only have earned a steady income from Google Adsense, that is all I’m going to track unless another reliable stream reveals itself.
August Summary
Google Adsense - 44 clicks - $9.20
September Summary
Google Adsense - 25 Clicks - $2.08
October Summary
Google Adsense - 14 Clicks - $2.71
Although I haven’t checked my current traffic numbers, I suspect that it hasn’t continued to rise like it was over the summer. i worry that the continied to drop in Click numbers is another sign that I need some fresh material.
Well, I’ll write again in a couple weeks to see if these new articles are driving more traffic and hopefully more revenue in return. Only $997 per month to go.
